Shiyan
Hubei Province · China
Wudang Mountain, one of the four great sacred peaks of Taoism and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rises within Shiyan's boundaries in northwestern Hubei — making this large industrial city an access point for one of China's most significant religious landscapes. The Han River crosses the entire prefecture from west to east, and the Danjiangkou Reservoir lies to the east. Historically known as Yunyang, Shiyan grew into a major city through the Danjiangkou hydroelectric project and the Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
