Singa, the capital of Sudan's Sennar State on the western bank of the Blue Nile, holds a place in archaeological history as the site of the oldest known fossil human discovery in Sudan. The city also hosts a major veterinary research station and a large agricultural market where gum arabic is a principal crop, set in a region of varied natural environments, wildlife, and water resources.
