Sinuiju
North Korea
Sinuiju is a North Korean city on the Yalu River, facing the Chinese city of Dandong across the international border. In 2002, part of the city was designated a Special Administrative Region to experiment with market-economy reforms, giving it a distinct status within North Korea. The city has seen growing tourism from China in recent years, and the Yalu River delta has shaped a broad plain around it.
