Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval
Haute-Savoie · France
At the end of the Giffre Valley in Haute-Savoie, Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval is a mountain village recognized among France's most beautiful, built around a priory and church from the former Sixt Abbey, founded by Ponce de Faucigny. The Cirque du Fer à Cheval and the Cascade du Rouget waterfall — known as the "Queen of the Alps" — draw visitors in summer, while winter access connects to the Grand Massif ski area via a long descent from Flaine. A nature reserve covers much of the surrounding terrain.
