Skagastrond

A small fishing hamlet on the western shore of Iceland's Skagi peninsula, Skagaströnd sits along Húna Bay with the mountain Spákonufell rising above the village. The mountain takes its name from an old folk legend about a seeress named Þórdís, and those approaching from the north or south are said to make out her face in the rock. Fishing remains the main industry, and the village was the first in Iceland to add a freezer trawler to its fleet, in 1982.
