Statesboro, the county seat of Bulloch County in southeastern Georgia, is the city that inspired Blind Willie McTell's "Statesboro Blues" in the 1920s — later covered by the Allman Brothers Band — and is home to Georgia Southern University, chartered here in 1906 as a land grant college. The city itself was chartered in 1803 as a cotton-trade hub, and its centre holds a concentration of historic churches alongside some listed heritage architecture.
