Staunton, in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, is the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, the 28th U.S. president, and draws visitors with a walkable downtown full of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches. The city was also the first in the United States to adopt a fully defined city manager system of government, and is home to Mary Baldwin University, historically a women's college.
