This riverside town in northeastern Cambodia that serves as the provincial capital and a transit point on the route between Laos and the rest of the country. Its compact centre has cafés and restaurants along the waterfront, and mountains lie within reach. Most travellers pass through rather than linger, with Banlung and Kratie drawing those looking for more activity, but the town has a quiet, frontier character of its own.
