Tabernas
Almería · Spain
Tabernas sits on the edge of the only desert in continental Europe, a sun-scorched landscape that served as the backdrop for dozens of spaghetti westerns and still draws visitors to three surviving film sets — Fort Bravo, Western Leone, and Mini Hollywood. The town itself holds Moorish castle ruins, an old church, and a restored municipal theatre, and hosts the annual Almería Western Film Festival. The Plataforma Solar de Almería, a solar energy research centre, operates in the municipality.
