Finland
This little Finnish municipality in South Karelia records the highest average summer temperatures of any municipality in Finland, making it a warm-weather outlier in the country's lake district. More than half its area is water, much of it Lake Saimaa, and its 1754 church is the oldest still-standing church building in the South Karelia region. The municipality was established in 1571 and sits a short distance north of Lappeenranta.
