Techiman
Ghana
Techiman's outdoor agricultural market, one of the largest in West Africa, anchors this city in Ghana's Bono East Region and drives much of its commercial life. Founded in 1740 and long regarded as a centre of Akan culture, Techiman became the capital of the newly created Bono East Region following a 2018 referendum. The city sits at the crossroads of major trunk roads connecting Sunyani, Kumasi, Wa, and Tamale, making it a significant transit and trading hub in central Ghana.
