Tezpur

A city on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra in Assam, Tezpur holds sites connected to the Ahom Kingdom and appears in several Hindu Puranic scriptures, with Hindu temples, historic buildings, and gardens spread across the city. Formerly known as Shonipur — a name now carried by the surrounding district — it is the largest city on the river's north bank and serves as the district headquarters.
