Thandwe
Myanmar (Burma)
This seaport town in Rakhine State, western Myanmar, Thandwe sits in a valley ringed by hills, with the Ngapali beach resort area a short distance away — a draw that brought daily air connections through the nearby Thandwe Airport. Three pagodas associated with sacred relics stand on either side of the Thandwe River. As of mid-2024, the town fell under Arakan Army control amid ongoing conflict, and travel here is not currently advisable.
