Trani
Barletta-Andria-Trani · Italy
Trani's Romanesque cathedral, rising directly above the Adriatic, anchors an Apulian port town whose historic centre is dense with medieval churches, monasteries, and stone architecture. The old quarter holds Romanesque buildings including the Swabian castle and the church of Ognissanti, associated with the Knights Templar, alongside a tourist harbour and a seafront promenade stretching to the medieval monastery of Colonna. The town also produces Moscato di Trani wine, and its medieval maritime code, the Ordinamenta et consuetudo maris of 1063, is considered among the earliest of its kind in the western world.
