Ulongue
Mozambique
Ulongue, the administrative seat of Angónia District in Tete Province, sits on the Angónia Plateau in northeastern Mozambique, close to mountains and within a short drive of water. Known before independence as Vila Coutinho, it was formally established as a town in 1945 and gained an elected local government in 2008. Colonial-era buildings, including the District Government offices and the Administrator's Palace, remain from its Portuguese-planned origins, and the town hosts a campus of Zambeze University's Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
