Valladolid
Valladolid · Mexico
Walkable Yucatán town with a dense food-and-drink scene, a concentration of historic churches, and strong photographic appeal, Valladolid sits in the eastern part of the state roughly midway between Chichén Itzá and Cancún. Founded in 1543 and later relocated to the Maya settlement of Zací, it carries a layered colonial and indigenous history, including a 1910 uprising that became one of the opening episodes of the Mexican Revolution. The town holds Pueblos Mágicos status, awarded in 2012.
