Varaždin

A walkable baroque town in northern Croatia, Varaždin is known for its historic old town fortification, numerous museums and galleries, and a centre dense with churches and food-and-drink options. The Varaždin cemetery, protected as a horticultural monument, is among the more unusual attractions. Sitting on the Drava river and once serving as an ancient Croatian capital, the town draws independent travellers as one of the more visited destinations in the northern part of the country.
