Vardenis
Armenia
A small Armenian town set high in the mountains near the southeastern shore of Lake Sevan, Vardenis sits in the Gegharkunik region at considerable elevation. According to tradition, the settlement was founded by Gegham, grandson of the patriarch Hayk, under the name Geghamabak — a claim supported by burial mounds from the third to first millennia BC found within the town's boundaries.
