Founded on 26 April 1884 in the south-west of Santa Fe province, Venado Tuerto is known as the birthplace of the "Marcha San Lorenzo," the Argentine military march composed here by Uruguayan musician Cayetano Alberto Silva — a legacy commemorated in the regional museum that bears his name.
