Vilankulo is a coastal town in Mozambique's Inhambane Province and the main departure point for the Bazaruto Archipelago, reached by dhow or helicopter. The town has a compact centre with cafés and restaurants, a walkable waterfront, and an international airport with daily connections to Johannesburg and Maputo. Named after the local chief Gamela Vilankulo Mukoke, it was elevated to city status in 2020 and has seen significant investment in tourism infrastructure over the past decade.
