Ciudad Real · Spain
Designated by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid as the likely setting of the opening of Don Quixote, this compact Castilla–La Mancha town in deep wine and olive country also holds the church of San Andrés Apóstol, where the poet Francisco de Quevedo died and whose remains were found in 2007.
