Villazon
Bolivia
Founded in 1910 and named after Bolivian president Eliodoro Villazón, this southern Bolivian border town sits across the La Quiaca River from Argentina and serves as a major transit point into Bolivia. Two weekly train services — the Expreso del Sur and the Wara Wara del Sur — connect it northward to Tupiza, Uyuni, and Oruro, making it a practical gateway for rail travellers. Buses add further connections, and cross-border trade keeps the town busy.
