Ethiopia
Founded in the 1770s during the reign of Ras Ali the Great, Weldiya is a highland crossroads city in Ethiopia's Amhara region where four major highways converge, connecting the northeastern part of the country. It sits within sight of mountains and close to water, and serves as a practical hub for travellers moving between Addis Ababa, Lalibela, Mekelle, and the Afar route toward Djibouti.
