Yarumal

This highland town in Antioquia's Norte subregion, Yarumal sits on the banks of the Río Necí in coffee and cattle country north of Medellín. Its name derives from the yarumo tree, once abundant here at the time of its founding. The town holds a minor basilica, Our Lady of Mercy, of architectural note, and lends its name to a Medellín-based Catholic missionary society active across Colombia.
