Spa city at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains in Stavropol Krai, Yessentuki is renowned for its mineral springs and therapeutic baths within the Caucasian Mineral Waters region, of which it has been the administrative centre since 1992. The walkable centre has a good spread of cafés and restaurants, and the city is considered the cultural capital of Russia's Greek community, with a significant share of its population of Greek descent.
