Zbarazh

Zbarazh, a compact city in western Ukraine's historic Galicia region, is counted among the 39 Ukrainian cities with the greatest concentration of historic monuments. It is also one of the settings of Henryk Sienkiewicz's 1884 novel With Fire and Sword, which includes a detailed account of the Siege of Zbarazh. Notable figures associated with the town include Rabbi Zev Wolf of Zbaraz, singer Velvel Zbarjer, and author Ida Fink. Ternopil lies a short distance to the east.
