Baena is an Andalusian town in the province of Córdoba known for its olive oil production, which carries its own denominación de origen. Set on a hillside beside the Guadajoz river, on the historic route linking Córdoba and Granada, the town holds a concentration of religious and civil monuments including the church of Santa María la Mayor, a medieval castle, and the Torreón del Arco Oscuro, along with remnants of the old walled enclosure.
