Barolo

Barolo, a little Piedmontese village in the Province of Cuneo, lends its name to one of Italy's most celebrated red wines, and the surrounding Langhe vineyards are part of a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. The medieval Barolo Castle anchors the village centre, and a 1999 art installation — the Chapel of Barolo, created by Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett — adds an unexpected contemporary note. Despite its size, the village has a handful of cafés and restaurants and sits within a region of scenic viewpoints and listed heritage architecture.
