Bischofszell
Switzerland
Bischofszell, a tiny town in Switzerland's canton of Thurgau, won the Wakker Prize in 1987 for the preservation of its architectural heritage, and sits at the confluence of the Sitter and Thur rivers. The district seat has a compact central core with cafés and restaurants, and its neighbouring town of Hauptwil-Gottshaus received the same heritage prize in 1999.
