This small market town in mid Wales sitting within the Brecon Beacons National Park, where the rivers Honddu and Usk meet in the town centre. The surrounding mountain terrain draws visitors, and a compact central core offers cafés and restaurants. Brecon's cathedral began as a Norman priory in the 11th century before becoming a cathedral in 1923, and the town was historically the county seat of Brecknockshire.
