Burton-on-Trent
TLG24 · United Kingdom
Burton-on-Trent, in Staffordshire, is best known for brewing, a tradition that shaped the town's growth from its origins around Burton Abbey. The River Trent runs through the centre, and the walkable core has a good spread of cafés, restaurants, and listed historic buildings. Burton Bridge was the site of two significant battles — Edward II's defeat of the rebel Earl of Lancaster in 1322, and a Royalist capture of the town in 1643 during the First English Civil War.
