Tamworth
TLG24 · United Kingdom
Walkable Staffordshire market town north-east of Birmingham, Tamworth sits at the confluence of the River Tame and carries a dense concentration of listed historic buildings in its centre. It was the principal seat of royal power in the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Mercia during the 8th and 9th centuries, and its 12th-century castle and the medieval Church of St Editha remain. The town also holds the Snowdome, a real-snow indoor ski slope, and Drayton Manor Theme Park is a short distance south.
