A little settlement on a peninsula in eastern Iceland, between two fjords, with the pyramid-shaped peak of Búlandstindur as its most prominent landmark. On the waterfront stands Langabúð, one of Iceland's oldest commercial buildings, dating to 1790, now housing a café, a heritage museum, and an exhibition on local sculptor Ríkarður Jónsson. Just west of the village, the outdoor artwork "Eggin í Gleðivík" (The Eggs of Merry Bay) displays granite replicas of the eggs of 34 bird species that nest in the area.
