This town in western Ukraine's Volhynia region, Dubno is known for its castle on the Ikva River, with cafés and restaurants concentrated in a compact, walkable centre. It sits at the intersection of two major European routes, E40 and E85, and appears in Jaroslav Hašek's novel *The Good Soldier Švejk*. During the Cold War it was home to a Soviet air base.
