Estaing, a modest village on the Lot river in Aveyron, is a member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France and carries an unusual concentration of protected historic monuments for its size: seven in all, including the Château d'Estaing, two churches, two chapels, the town hall, and a medieval bridge. The D'Estaing family, documented here from 1028, shaped the village's prominence across several centuries. Cafés and restaurants serve the village centre, and wine country surrounds it.
