Ferizaj
Kosovo
This Kosovo town with a walkable centre full of cafés and restaurants, Ferizaj sits roughly halfway between Pristina and Skopje and is known for an unusual geographic phenomenon: the Nerodimë River splits into two branches that drain into two different seas — one of only two such natural river bifurcations documented worldwide. The US Army base Camp Bondsteel, described as the largest American military base built in southeastern Europe since the Vietnam War, lies just outside the city. Since 2016, the annual MuralFest festival has brought international street artists to paint public spaces here.
