Guanta

Guanta is a coastal city in northeastern Venezuela, formally founded in 1594 on a site already settled by the Cumanagoto people, whose cacique Guantar gave the town its name. Its horseshoe-shaped bay, protected by nearby islands and deep enough for large vessels, has made its port one of Venezuela's most significant, historically handling coal shipments from the Naricual and Capiricual mines. The city forms part of the Gran Barcelona metropolitan area alongside Barcelona, Puerto La Cruz, and Lechería.
