Heraclea at Latmus
Mugla · Türkiye
Ancient Greek and Roman ruins line the shore of Lake Bafa at Heraclea at Latmus, a site in Mugla province where substantial city walls and other remains survive at the foot of Mount Latmus. The lake itself was once an Aegean gulf before the river Maeander silted it closed, and the modern village of Kapıkırı now occupies the ancient footprint, with UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region.
