Jiufen

This hillside town in New Taipei City's Ruifang District, Jiufen rose to prominence through gold mining before falling quiet — then found new life after the 1990s, when the film *A City of Sadness* was shot here and the town's steep lanes and old teahouses drew comparisons to the animated film *Spirited Away*. Today its narrow, winding Old Street is lined with teahouses, shops, and restaurants, with the northeast coast visible below.
