Jixi
Heilongjiang Province · China
This coal-mining city in southeastern Heilongjiang Province, Jixi sits on the Muling River close to the Russian border, with the Ussuri River marking the boundary to the east and Lake Xingkai — a large China-Russia border lake — to the south. The area is one of China's significant coal and graphite production bases, and a crater on asteroid 253 Mathilde bears the city's name.
