A coal-mining city in eastern Heilongjiang Province, Qitaihe sits where the Woken River crosses the terrain between the Wandashan ranges to the north and the Nadanhada ridge to the south. One of Heilongjiang's four major coal cities, it has mountains within reach and river access near the centre.
