Joroinen

This small municipality in Finland's North Savo region, Joroinen is set among an extensive lake landscape and is known for its many manor houses. The local signature dish, kapapaisti, combines dried fish and pork, while a potato casserole made with vendace was named the parish's traditional dish in the 1980s. The municipality's agricultural heritage runs deep — it was home to a dairy and livestock school and the first livestock breeding association in Eastern Finland, a history reflected in its coat of arms.
