Kauhajoki
Finland
Kauhajoki, a small town in Finland's South Ostrobothnia region, is home to two national parks: Kauhaneva-Pohjankangas and Lauhanvuori. The surrounding landscape shifts between the flat open plains typical of southern Ostrobothnia and the forests and sandy heathlands of northern Satakunta. During World War II, the Finnish parliament was evacuated here. The town serves as the centre of the Suupohja sub-region and has a compact central core with cafés and restaurants.
