Kavarskas

Lithuania

This small Lithuanian town on the right bank of the Šventoji River, Kavarskas is home to a reinforced-concrete cross erected in 1936 that stands at 20 metres — the tallest in Lithuania. The 1887 Church of St. John the Baptist also stands here, and a mid-20th-century water-lifting station on the Šventoji, now a hydroelectric plant, remains a point of local interest.
