Kazanlak
Bulgaria
Kazanlak is the centre of Bulgaria's rose oil industry, set in the Rose Valley at the foot of the Balkan Mountains and on the road to the historic Shipka Pass. The surrounding area holds ancient Thracian tombs, including one on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and the nearby site of the ancient city of Seuthopolis. The town itself has a walkable centre with cafés and restaurants, and the Rose Museum offers a focused look at the region's defining industry.
