Kempele

Kempele, a compact town just south of Oulu in North Ostrobothnia, is the birthplace of NHL goaltender Pekka Rinne and home to one of northern Finland's largest shopping centres, the Zeppelin mall. The town centre is split by Highway 4, with older civic buildings and two churches to the west and the Köykkyrä recreation area to the east, where Finland's smallest ski resort operates in winter. A narrow coastal strip reaches the sea at the village of Vihiluoto.
