This small harbour town in County Cork with a concentration of gourmet restaurants — including a Michelin-starred one — that makes it a well-regarded food destination on the Irish coast. Kinsale sits at the mouth of the River Bandon, south of Cork City, and draws visitors for sailing and angling as well as its historic buildings: Desmond Castle of around 1500, the star fort Charles Fort of 1677, and the Church of St Multose, dating to 1190. The town was also the site of a significant battle in 1601.
