Kiş
Azerbaijan
A small village in Azerbaijan's Shaki district, Kiş is home to a church said to have been built around 74 AD by one of the first Christian missionaries — making it, according to the medieval Albanian historian Movses Kalankatly, the earliest Christian place of worship in the South Caucasus. The village sits along the Kiş river at the foot of the mountains, with cafés and restaurants in its compact centre.
