Leskovac

Regarded as Serbia's meat capital, Leskovac hosts an annual six-day grill festival — the Roštiljijada — celebrating specialties including Pljeskavica, Ćevapi, and Mućkalica. This southern Serbian city sits in the Leskovac Depression along the Veternica river, near its confluence with the South Morava. Beyond the festival, the city runs a carnival and an international film festival each year. Its history stretches from Roman settlement through an Ottoman-era craftsmen's and merchant town to a major textile centre in the late 19th century.
