Ølgod
Denmark
A little railway town in southwest Jutland, Ølgod is known locally as "Denmark's smallest city" for the density of shops, restaurants, and services it packs in relative to its size. The town grew on heathland with sandy soils poorly suited to farming, so residents historically turned to making clay pots and other craft goods. Kitchen manufacturer HTH has its headquarters here. The town name derives from Old Danish words meaning "sanctuary" and "god."
